What happens when music is all thats left?

That was the question Pittsburgh-based bassist Geoff Funk had to ask when he discovered his band, Reasons for Leaving, was splitting up after 3 years of commitment and U.S. touring. Some would consider this a sure sign that even the music was gone, but Funk believed that in the hardest times he could turn to that which had always been there to get him by. Even without a band, he was insistent that the music carry on.

As fate would have it, Funk was not to carry on the music alone. Shortly after, Funk met Don Hewitt, a guitarist from Chicago who had come to Pittsburgh looking for a fresh start. The two instantly clicked and began writing music, making plans to form a new band. The search was on; the creative process was in high gear.

Enter Dan Pace, whom had no idea that his vocal abilities were being studied by the duo with every MP3 that they could download. No questions had to be asked. Pace received a phone call from the guys; they collaborated and put lyrics to the music, solidifying the sound that would prove Funks initial thought: Music is all you need.

Ambridge was born. The trio worked with a drummer from Michigan, but due to logistic circumstance, the arrangement didnt work out. Funk called upon the only drummer he knew of that could handle the job, Doug Schmitt. A well-seasoned player and Pittsburgh native, Schmitt had been in a handful of Pittsburgh bands as well as bands from New York City and San Francisco, CA. He had all of the credentials.

The foursome took the music live to the stage just two days after Schmitt joined the band, on a total of six hours of rehearsal. Since the inception of Ambridge in December, 2005, this Pittsburgh-based band has worked relentlessly in preparation for taking on the world. Collectively, the members of the band have toured the globe; there are no rookies here.

The band made their first EP in June, 2006 at Big Blue Meenie Studios in Jersey City, NJ, known for recording the bands such as Thursday and Taking Back Sunday. Despite being a first release, this EP was no novice endeavor. Mixed by Rumblefish and produced by Brett Detar of The Juliana Theory, the EP has already garnered much attention from influential members of the indie and punk rock music communities.

The band is currently filming a DVD with director John Merkel, to be released with the EP later this summer.
