What happens when music is all thats left?
That was the question Pittsburgh based bassist Geoff Funk had when he discovered his band Reasons for Leaving, a band he had committed three years of his life to and toured the country with, was splitting up. Some would consider this a sure sign that even the music was gone, but Funk believed that in the hardest times he could turn to that which had always been there to get him by, so even without a band, Funk was insistent that the music carry on.
As fate would have it, Funk was not to carry on the music alone. Shortly after the demise of Reasons for Leaving, Funk met Don Hewitt, a guitarist from Chicago who had come to Pittsburgh looking for a fresh start. The two clicked instantly and started writing music and making plans to form a new group. The search was on, and the creative process was in high gear. Even as they were cranking out new tunes almost daily, the duo scoured the country looking for the final pieces of the line-up they were envisioning. As luck would have it, the final pieces found them:
Tim Bolton, a drummer from Niles, Michigan had seen Funk and Hewitts ad on the net, and immediately jumped in the car to make the twelve hour drive to Pittsburgh to audition. Upon hearing his skills, the guys instantly made him one of their own.
Meanwhile, Funks girlfriend made mention that a friend of hers knew a singer from a local Pittsburgh band. That singer, Dan Pace, had no idea that while he was going about his daily life the trio was searching the internet, taking in every available MP3 they could find of his vocal talents. Pace received a phone call from the guys and within days was in a basement jamming with them, solidifying the sound that would prove Funks initial thought: Music is all you need.
Thus, AMBridge was born.
Since their inception in December, 2005, this Pittsburgh based band has been hard at work preparing themselves for the world. Collectively, the members of the band have toured the globe, and once the band was formed, all were anxious to return to the road. The tour, which will kick off in July of 2006 is going to be in support of a self-titled EP, also to be released in the Summer of 06.
Take note: This EP will be no novice endeavor. Due to the bands collective talents and industry notoriety, the EP (which will be recorded at Big Blue Meenie Studios in Jersey City, NJ in June 2006) has already garnered much attention, especially by members of the indie and punk rock scene: Bret Detar of the Juliana Theory is producing the album, helping AMbridge on their frist efforts.
