About Me
Hi, everyone! My name is Amber, I'm nine-teen years old, a Christian, and I love music. I was born in Ohio, and after moving eight times, I have now lived in Florida for about 10 years. I got my first guitar three days after my eleventh birthday and I've been playing ever since (that's almost nine years!) I've also been writing songs since I was twelve, some of which I am proud to say I still play today. I often play my guitar in church, and write songs whenever my muse wakes up.
In my junior year I competed in FACCS, and won first place in female monologue, and fourth in female vocal solo. In my senior year, I competed again at state and won second place in female monologue and won first place in female vocal solo. I sang Serenade, by Schubert (in German) and Come Thou Fount arranged by Bob Krogstead. I went on to nationals and placed in the top five.
My Instruments
I play on an Ovation celebrity. It's a very versatile guitar, and I love it because I'm petite and it has a shallow bowl, which is even narrower than a standard acoustic. Sometimes when I play regular acoustic my strumming arm goes numb because the body cuts the circulation off in my arm. lol. My guitar is beautiful. It's an acoustic/eletric in ruby-red burst. All of the songs here are recorded acoustically.
I also play harmonica, tenor sax, and very little keyboard.
Influences
There are a lot of muscicians and artists that I look to for inspiration. Warren Barfield, Bethany Dillon, and Shaun Groves have a very acoustic style that I really admire. I try to get the clean, crisp guitar coming through in my songs, and Warren is extremely inventive when it comes to chords. I have so much fun tabbing out his songs.
I also sing classical music, and I look up to Charlotte Church, Sarah Brightman, and Josh Groban. I also love Switchfoot, Nickel Creek, Alison Krauss, Barlow Girl, Reliant K, Michael Buble, Lifehouse, and SuperChic[k].
About the Songs
From You to Me: This song was written for me by my dear friend and fellow musician Rich (who can be found at http://www.purevolume.com/redcrusade ). He lives in the UK and I live in the US, but we both have Audacity, and we layered a duet together.
Tomorrow is Long Time: This is a cover of a cover. The original is by Bob Dillon and mine is based off of the cover by Nickel Creek. The harmony is also done by moi.
