Always Morning Biography
Always Morning is an original Alternative Rock band from Blacksburg, VA. All members of the group are students at Virginia Tech with the same burning passion for music. The name itself, Always Morning, is a perfect description of the bands outlook on their musical journey - there is always a new day ahead, life to be lived, and lessons to be learned.
Always Morning is eager to get their music out and give the world something they love. The band is enthusiastic about playing more and more shows, meeting new people, and ultimately touching peoples lives. The guys hope to continue to refine their sound and show the world what theyve got. A new EP is on the horizon in hopes of capturing the bands growth after an unforgettable summer together in North Carolina.
The band formed out of pure fate. Chris Cooke (lead vocals, acoustic guitar) and Alex Gilliam (drums, percussion) are fraternity brothers at Virginia Tech and eventually found out their common bond in pursuing music. Alex randomly met Hunter Pease (lead guitar, vocals) at Radford when Hunter overheard Alex talking (probably bragging) about his music at a party. Finally, Hunter met Will Jernigan (bass, vocals, ladies) playing a pick up game of basketball. Though the members had no prior connections, the group quickly evolved into a tight brotherhood with the ultimate goal of music as a career.
Their sound is unique and extremely diverse, making it difficult to compare them to many modern groups; however, some of their influences include artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Umphreys McGee, The John Butler Trio, and other versatile alternative bands. Each member brings their own sound to the table: a drummer with a pop rock background, a lead guitarist with jam band and blues backgrounds, a bassist with blues and alternative rock backgrounds, and a lead vocalist with acoustic and southern rock influences. Collectively, the group produces an energetic, musically intelligent, crowd pleasing sound that can only be appreciated to its fullest after experiencing the diversity in each different song.
Other bands that Always Morning has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with include: The Influence, Rome in a Day, Jimmies Chicken Shack, Justin King, The Season, Afroman, and Carbon Leaf.
