The band really started its growth in the year 2001 when the drummer Grant and guitarist Adam started purchasing high quality Yamaha instruments and wanted to see what kind of sound they could create. With all their classmates sharing a love for smells like teen spirit and Adams inability to know what a bar chord is, it became easy to fall onto hard times. But despite this, they played on as instrumentalists until they were fortunate enough to find 2 other members Christian on bass and then Donovan (early 2007) as a rhythm guitarist and vocalists. The band then moved away from playing accomplished Metallica covers and began writing their own material. Friendship and a passion for Metallica was the only fuel they needed

Alice Black was the resultant product, and in January 2007, the first song Afterlife was created. The words and main chord pattern were brought by Donovan, but it was soon developed completely as a band. Soon following this hit, other songs (e.g. Scarred Memory, End This) were manufactured whenever the band had a spare minute. The band was soon becoming an underground success within their school and other neighbourhood networks across the globe. The music the band created seemed to be something missing in the local scene. Having lived in Dubai and being exposed to some great bands, they knew what they could achieve by being unique. The result was rock with feeling; composed riffs that display skill in a subtle way and then surpass this when necessary.

The name Alice Black is actually a good fit for this band. It connotes two sides to the bands creations - they can start with a simple sounding guitar, but when the lights soon go out, the amps kick in and a rockier element surpasses
