I'm not too great at guitar. I don't have an incredible voice or anything either... Heck, I'm a drummer. What am I doing here? Well when I was 10 or so (before I played drums, which I've been doing for about 2 1/2 years now) I got a guitar. I learned a few chords, though it was cool, but got bored. So I put it away.

Then the emo stage hit...

Yeah, yeah, exactly what your thinking. Kid hits his teenage years, decides to come out of nerdhood and write poems like every other long-haired, skate-shoed, wallet-chain wanna-be. That was pretty much it in a nutshell. Except I had this little voice inside of me say "You know, your poems actually don't suck. Amazing". Plus it was fun, and being homeschooled my whole life, I didn't really have any other hobbies. Except for sports, but in that area my talent never seemed to keep up with my enthusiasm (I was a very enthusiastic bench-warmer, thank you). How on Earth did I get here... Ah, yes. So I decided to learn guitar. About a year and a half ago Brad Gibson, construction worker, youth worship leader and guitar player extraordinair decided to give lessons and I jumped at the chance to learn. So, using that same first guitar (which stood about as tall as my 6-year-old sister) I strummed away. I wrote some simple things, mostly remnants of old depressing poetry, and I learned how to play songs off the radio by printing tab sheets on my computer. Actually, once I started playing fairly frequently I nearly gave up on writing.

Chapter 2 No, I didn't become emo again. But my faithful addiction (almost an oxymoron, right?) to Xanga kicked in and I made a second journal just for poems. They eventually turned into songs and thanks to a simple computer microphone and a mixer I downloaded off the internet, I began recording. My song writing ability (which I feel is an ability.... sort of?) is still far greater than my skill on guitar, but I'm doing something that I love.

Aside from playing guitar (which I officially started in January 05) and writing songs, I play drums for my high school youth group at Calvary Chapel. We're pretty tight as a band and playing drums is something I hope to be able to do my whole life. Writing my own music is only a side project for now, but one day I just might make a whole cd. We'll see. Enjoy the songs everyone. Thanks for checking this out.
