Alecia Halstead is an independent singer/songwriter from a small town in southern Illinois. She has been playing piano since the age of seven and has been singing for many more years before that. The CD, "Sustained," was released in May of 2004. While the CD contains 14 tracks total, 4 tracks have full instrumentation added into the mix and the remaining 10 tracks are vocal/piano only. Alecia has a style of her own, but if she had to be compared to other artists, Sarah McLachlan, Norah Jones, Vanessa Carlton, Tori Amos, or Alicia Keys might be a decent comparison (vocal/piano). Most of her music is mellow/balladic/easy listening, but some songs are more upbeat. Alecia currently has about 50+ songs written. The opportunity to be signed by a record label has always been an option for Alecia, but she claims that "the right person has to hear [her] music at the right time." Alecia recently graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a Bachelors in Psychology, a focus on Pre-Medicine, and a Minor in Women's Studies. She was accepted to medical school and her focus is on becoming a doctor. Any questions/comments/rants/raves/etc. may be directed to Alecia.
