AK RAIL ! This modern rock original/cover band performs energy driven cover songs in many styles of music, this diverse band has an extensive range of music from the old 60's to current, from dance to metal. These 5 members deliver a varied list of dynamic songs that keeps everyone moving and thirsty for more.
AK RAIL started in November 2004, all of the members of the band had played for many years with a variety of original & cover bands. Most of the band members had burned out on the heavy time burden that a band requires and took some time off from anything serious. But it seems like the need to play always comes back and it did so in a big way.
Jon Hillman and Jeff Bowers started out in Jon's garage just jamming, they instantly liked what they heard and after a couple of jam sessions they knew it was time to get serious again.So they needed a singer and as luck would have it, and through mutual friends, in came Mike Herring ( who sang for synergy and bone daddy) and it clicked right from the start. Months went by and the need for another guitar player was growing as the band wanted Mike to concentrate his efforts on singing. The original bass player John Rheume( who was in the original band no escaping fate with guitarist rob aguilar) contacted him after seven years of silence and after just one practice they know he was the one to hold down the second guitarist job.
AK RAIL has been back and forth with bass players over the last four years and just recently hooked up with Rusty Dumont ( tangent ) who brings a new resurgance to the band. The recent loss of drummer Jeff Bowers led us to find a drummer to fill the spot and as luck will have it Frank Adkins ( resident ) was anxious and available . with his tight drumming style and wilingness to learn a large list of music, covers and originals , became the new drummer for AK RAIL. Now we are ready to take on the world and rock its walls down.
AK RAIL or RAIL ( we go by both names ) are now playing all over Alaska and are fine tuning our stage presence and musical talents. Original music is where we want to be but we have to play covers to entertain a variety of clubs, bars and venues.we connect with our audience's and have the versatality to give the crowd what they want, fun and exciting live music for any occasion.We are a professional group dedicated to deliver the goods.
