PREVIEW MOST OF SCREAMING IN CURSIVE RIGHT HERE!
If you like it, do me a favor and pick it up on iTunes.
Don't get too attatched to the sound though-- I'm always progressing. Check the blog for more details on my upcoming projects.
Here's the short version: Producing the album will be: Ayatollah, Black Panther, Earmint, THX...possibly more, but those are the ones that are confirmed. I'll give you their links in my blog.
(Agent | Smith)
Affiliations: Paragon Black, The Collective, Illmuzik, Blk Ink Collektiv
Agent Smith is an emcee/dj/producer/audio cubist from San Diego, California. His music has a sort of cinematic feel that usually is followed by phrases such as "I could hear this in a movie," or "It's cool but you can't dance to it." His lyrics range from free verse poetry, spoken word, abstract and slant-rhymed personal narratives, to locked-on, creative punch lines. Usually focusing on self-examination, explorations of his own mind and the minds of others, and social commentary, Agent Smith attempts to answer his own "why's" and "how's" that he encounters in his daily life. He credits any talent he displays to the Holy Spirit and his main goal is to repay the gift by using it well. Although his lyrics are quite frequently emotional, he shuns the label of "emo-rap" saying it is a convenient way for journalists and critics to keep black and white seperate. Hip Hop is Hip Hop and is simply multi-faceted.
Screaming in Cursive is now available for digital download. Production by Me, Blockhead, Lex, Cold Truth, Mercury Waters, and guest appearances by Co-Collective members B-Ry and J. Moe.
You can preview about 99% of it on this site.

"John Smith's music is indeed not exactly mild; best described as fairly unconventional and rather adventurous, John who is both an emcee and a producer, is acquiring a growing reputation as an exceptional craftsman. An artisan of a particular kind; John certainly doesn't compromise when it comes to the quality of his production and expression of esthetics. "

New Album on the Horizon
That's right, a new Agent Smith album is in the works. Like I said on the last track of Screaming in Cursive, this album is going to sound completely different. Don't worry, I'm not trying to buy anyone a drank or walk it out, in, or among anything, but it is a little less heavy. Screaming in Cursive was two years of pain slapped into however long that cd is...
This next album is about who I am in the aftermath...my personal journies and searches to find myself again...and the good part is, I like what I'm finding. I've developed light years ahead of what I was on Screaming in Cursive as far as technical skill as both an mc and a producer. That being said, I'm not going to be producing much on this album. To be honest, producing my whole album is draining and I enjoy the collaborative process. Plus...if I can work with producers who can produce better beats than I can, why not?
I'm not going to spoil the surprise with a bunch of maybe's but I'll give you a couple morsels...First off, a producer by the name of THX is contributing a couple beats. You can check his stuff out at http://www.myspace.com/thxbeats. He produced track 19 on Snoop Dogg's Blue Carpet Treatment. He's also doing stuff with Busta Rhymes, David Banner, Western Union, and a whole bunch more---needless to say, I feel blessed to be working with this cat.
Another confirmed producer on this next album is Ayatollah. All I gotta say is Mos Def, Rakim, Wu Tang...and that's like 1/10th of the people he's worked with.
Also stopping by will be Earmint and Black Panther. Both freakin ill producers.

Ok so here's what's up.
Screaming in Cursive: The Prequel is out now and you can pick it up at http://www.accesshiphop.com or you can look it up on this page and click "buy now".
Next on my schedule is getting the full length, "Screaming in Cursive" done and released. So far I have about 8 songs done. I'm planning on having between 10 and 12 tracks on the LP. It's gonna feature production by Blockhead (yea, ninjatune/aesop rock blockhead), lex, cold truth, mercury waters, and me. There isn't going to be a whole lot of guest spots but trust fellow collective member B-Ry is going to be there, and possibly my collab with c-rayz might make it onto this project (if not this one, the next one for sure). I was thinking of adding some instrumental tracks to this album but so far i'm only really satisfied with one of the 3 or 4 candidates so uh...that might not happen. Either way, I want to finish recording by early fall and release it either late fall or early winter. Stay tuned for more updates on that.
As far as the paragon black project, I'm further through it and all I gotta say is get ready for your mind to be blown.
Stay up, God bless.

Ok here's what I'm up to right now. I just finished my e.p. and you can look for it on accesshiphop.com pretty soon.
In other news, I'm working on a project with producer Wings of An Angel of Israel under the name Paragon Black. This project is sort of tough to describe as far as the way it sounds because you kind of have to hear it...it's sort of a mix of spoken word, hip-hop, klezmer music and the soundtrack to halo 2. The concept of this project is to tell a non-linear story about a character who sort of personifies my philosophical views, dreams, outlook on life, and all that other good stuff. It's kind of in the same vein as haloDim (http://www.myspace.com/halodim) which is the last project Wings of An Angel finished with emcee Mercury Waters.
Speaking of Mercury Waters, I'm working on a project with him as well under the name Trustless Engineers. I'm not going to reveal too much about this other than it is going to be a sort of positive/negative space, yin/yang kind of thing. Basically I'm making all the beats for his part of the album and he's making the beats for mine. We'll be tackling the same concepts in two specifically different ways. That's all I'm gonna say for now but trust it'll be pretty interesting.
And finally, I'm slowly amassing songs for my first solo LP which has no concept, direction, or idea.

thats pretty much it for now...Stay up
God bless
