AFL says goodbye.
After nine great years the band has decided to call it quits. Matt has decided to follow a career of teaching english in South Korea and will be there for a duration of a year. We feel that we cannot keep the band going without our front man and since he is one of the original members we didn't feel it was right for any of us to keep AFL going under the same name. There is no bad blood in the band and we have actually been contemplating this for a while now (anyone notice the lack of shows lately?) This was just the last piece of the puzzle to confirm it was happening. We all personally have been feeling a little abused by the music scene here in Colorado, we have had some awesome times and got to meet and befriend a lot of cool people and bands, but the overall weight of the scene broke our spirits. It was coming to the point it was either our friendships or the band. David, Matt, and I have been friends since the first grade and didn't want the band (which was turning into a business) to hinder our friendships. Some break ups cause disaster and hard feelings but we hope our fans and friends don't hold any grudges against us personally or the band. We love you all and couldn't have asked for better support.
This doesn't mean this will be the last you see any of us in the music scene, or the last nail in the coffin for AFL, Matt will be bringing his guitar to Korea and will be working on songs and I'm sure playing some shows out there. Sean will be in the music scene through his recording studio El Rancho and working on multiple projects for various bands. I will continue to bang the hell out of my drums to let out the anger of the days and hopefully have the chance to jam with some friends. David.... well David will take on music in the form of Guitar Hero. Just kidding. He and I are sure to jam to relive the moments and songs.
Some of you might have heard or know that we are working on an E.P. We still plan on releasing it and hopefully in time for our last show (check out the end of this for our last shows info). Weâre in the finals stages of editing then we go on to mix and master and weâre done! Definitely our best recording yet! Make sure you pick it up since it is going to be a part of AFL history.
WE ARE HAVING 2 LAST SHOWS! MAKE IT! We have two shows coming up and this will be the last chance anyone will get to hear A Future Loss! Thank you everyone who has been a part of the bands life. Every person who has come out to a show, listen to our music, bought some merch, said good job after our set, or just hung out with us for shits and giggles. Youâve impacted us in ways we canât explain. You all are the reason A Future Loss made it as far as it did and without your support this band would have never seen as many cities and venues as we did. You guys gave us the inspiration to keep pushing and the heart to see that we were affecting someoneâs life and that maybe we were doing something good in this world. Thank you all for every ounce that YOU put into the band.
With great love,
Bryan Grengs and the rest of A Future Loss

A Future Loss started in 2002 when three friends decided to make their own impact on the punk scene. After the release of our first album Only One War in 2003, we began our following in the Denver Metro area and started playing major venues such as The Ogden, The Blue Bird, The Gothic Theatre, The Denver Hard Rock Caf, and Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom. Through the years we have met hundreds of awesome people and bands that have influenced the sound we have today. Recently we have been promoting our new album Last Ones Standing.
We play what we believe in, and what we feel is important to the world and ourselves. We try to focus on the best in life through our music by not getting caught up in evangelizing others with our political views or giving into the poppy meaningless of song lyrics that have plagued the punk scene for so long. We are moving on strong and it only gets better from here.
