A Familiar Voice is a pop/indie group with singer-songwriter emotion and a rock band's edge. For fans of: Matt Nathanson, A Rocket to the Moon, Joshua Radin, and The Starting Line.

In December 2009, Zach McCluskey recorded some of his acoustic songs under the moniker A Familiar Voice. Although this name was new, Zach was not new to music. After playing in bands that ranged from metal-core to piano-pop, he refined his personal songwriting style to an acoustic/indie/pop vibe. His songs are expressive and meaningful, and his unique, soft voice and 12-string guitar offer a new timbre and refreshing originality. "I try to write songs that mean a lot to me but can be interpreted differently by others. That way they mean more to the listener," says Zach, who values the power that music gives him to express himself and connect with others. On top of this musicianship, his sometimes awkward, but always infectious smile and 'all-around-nice-guy' personality make AFV shows must-attend events.

In the fall of 2010, Ethan Barrette (guitar) and Mikey Crisp (drums) became part of A Familiar Voice, giving the band a driving full-band sound. Brandon Lewis (bass) also joined in the spring of 2011. They are currently recording a new album, which will be released on April 3, 2012. A Familiar Voice loves traveling to share their music with new people and has had the opportunity to play with lots of great artists, including The Icarus Account, Carter Hulsey, Jamestown Story, The Maine, and Never Shout Never.
