Adriana Rios was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the age of eight, she moved to the United States and divided her time between the two countries. She began her classical music studies at the age of eleven, playing the flute, and continued until she entered university. She graduated with honors from The College of William and Mary, (Va. USA) with a degree in Latin American Studies and left the US for Europe. There, she returned to her musical inclinations, singing, playing the flute and percussion with different Brazilian music groups in numerous jazz clubs in various cities of Greece, Italy, and France.

She returned to New York in 1989, and was hired by a small independent record label Chesky Records as vocalist, vocal coach, and production assistant for diverse projects that included their Brazilian artists, Ana Caram, Tom Jobim, Leandro Braga, Caf, Romero Lubambo, Luis Bonfa and others like Herbie Mann and Paquito de Rivera. In 1990, Paquito de Rivera hired her to work for his company, Havana-New York Music.

In 1991 Adriana moved to Buenos Aires, developing her musical career during the 90s, participating in recordings and performances with numerous musicians in Argentina, such as Alejandro Santos, Agustin Pereyra Lucena, Guillermo Reuter , Ricardo Lew, Jorge Cutello, Alejandro Herrera, Ricardo Nol among others. She played in numerous venues including the San Martn Theater, the San Martin Cultural Center , the Borges Cultural Center, the Sur Cultural Center, the Mardel Jazz Festival, the Oliverio Jazz Club, the Trastienda, the Ateneo, the Club del Vino, Tobago, Clsica y Moderna and Notorious, among others. She also made numerous presentations in the Provinces of Mendoza, Cordoba, Santa Fe, Rio Negro and along the Atlantic Coast.

During these years, she also traveled to the United States on numerous occasions for concerts and recording sessions with artists such as Alejandro Santos, Claudio Roditti and Diego Urcola among others. In Argentina she participated in recordings of artists such as Agustin Pereyra Lucena, Ricardo Lew and Livia Barbosa.

In February of 2001, Adriana recorded her first solo project in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Simply Bossa is a tribute to the music of Antonio Carlos Jobim. This CD was the major connection to her carioca musical roots. The project counted with the participation of important Brazilian and Argentinean artists deeply related to the music of Brazil such as Leandro Braga ( arrangements and piano) , Joao Lyra (guitar), Jorge Helder (contra base),Carlos Balla (drums), Zro (percussion) , Z Nogueira (soprano sax), Alejandro Santos (arrangements and flutes) and Guillermo Reuter ( arrangements, piano, and vocals) , as well as the stellar performance by one of Brazil's most influential and well loved composers, Roberto Menescal, who added his electric guitar to two tracks. At that time she presented her project at one of the best known venues for bossa nova musicians in Rio de Janeiro, the Vinicius Bar of Ipanema.

Simply Bossa was put out by the MDR Label in 2005 and nominated for the Premios Gardel (Argentine Music Awards) in the category Best Album/Artist Romantic-Melodic 2005. Currently Adriana is presenting a show entitled "Con Voz de Mujer" which pays tribute to the great Brazilian singers of the last 50 years, accompanied by artists such as Ricardo Lew, Alejandro Santos, Daniel Maza, Ricardo Nol, Hernan Jacinto amoung others. The show includes some selections from her tribute to Jobim, classics from numerous Brazilian composers and new ,unreleased material by Rios, Pereyra Lucena, Santos and Lew.
Apart from her solo projects, Adriana has been playing alongside the outstanding guitarist, Agustin Pereyra Lucena, for over 13 years. At this moment she is in the midst of a recording project with Lucena, which not only features her as a vocalist but also as lyricist for many of the songs.
