A dead girl was originally formed in 2001 by brothers Justin and Cory. Early influences ranging from Deftones and Coal Chamber to Placebo and Morrisey. At first the two were using a drum machine for live performances until 2004 when Cory moved over to drums. After a number of temporary bass players came in and out of the band the position was finally filled by James in 2007. The band still felt they were missing a piece and decided to pursue a second guitar player. In the summer of 2008, Justin ran into childhood friend Shaun. After a few jam sessions it was clear that he was the missing piece. A dead girl's sound as been descibed as a blend of modern hard rock and late 90's nu-metal.
