In an age where most up-and-coming bands choose to relegate their musical fate solely to Internet sites, South Florida band Addax will do no such thing.

Beginning in 2003, Addax, comprised of vocalist Laura Schweitzer, bassist Eddy Davis, guitarists Omar Williams and Josh Rohe, and drummer Louis Gonzales, decided early on that passivity was not an option. Blending elements of hard rock, impassioned singer/songwriter vocals, and a lock-step groove rhythm section, Addax is taking its message to the people. In 2009, drummer Carlos Paguaga joined the lineup adding his own fire-powered rock chops to the mix.

The band has made it their mission to become something of local "road dogs" in South Florida - playing every venue, every time, every way possible - earning themselves a significant following and respect within the burgeoning scene. The band has also branched out beyond Florida having performed dates up the East coast including New York City hot spots Acme Underground and The Lions Den.

Much like a prize fighter, Addax has the blood, bruises, and belts to prove its mettle. After winning several local battle of the band competitions, the band placed 2nd in the 2005 International Emergenza Competition in the Florida regional finals. Also, Billboard Magazine honored the band's single "Puzzle" in its recent World Songwriting Contest. Along the way, Addax released a variety of demos, as well as 2006's EP MissOutOnMe, which garnered the band significant rotation on regional college radio stations WVUM 90.5 FM, Radiate 95.3 FM and RadioX WNSU 88.5.

The band's latest full-length album Be The Victim is an impressive collection of new wave rock, powerful pop ballads, and sick-tight drum and bass grooves from which Addax has made a name for themselves. Songs like "Take This and Remember" and "Your Eyes I'm Wearing" blare with bombastic notions of angst and personal empowerment, while a tight-knit rhythm section and seething guitar riffs provide a sonic portrait that only a band like Addax could execute without being coy.

A collection of the high-profile engineers are credited with work on Be The Victim. Recording engineers include Matt LaPlant (Nonpoint, Skindred, Fiction Plane), while mixing duties were skillfully handled by Patrick Magee, noted for his work with Timbaland, Missy Elliot, and LL Cool J among others.

Of the recording, which was released independently in the spring of 2008 Schweitzer commented, "It's a culmination of the beginnings of Addax...a lot of emotion and love by many, many people went into the making of the album and I just know that it will shine through."
