A DAY CALLED DESIRE

Punk / Alternative / Metal

KERRANG! triple K
"BUZZSAW PUNK-FLAVOURED DEBUT FROM BIRMINGHAM"
"Its difficult to peg ADAYCALLEDDESIRE as a punk band or indeed pin them to any particular genre. Theres a punk influence in there, sure - the sheer maelstrom that ushers in "City of the Dead" makes for one of the most impressive openers you'll hear - but its funnelled into a less definable rock format. They're at their best when at their most visceral. This is a fine debut from a band well worth tracking down"

METAL HAMMER
"A very adept mix of distinctive vocals, fast-paced horror-punk guitar riffing and some great proggy freakouts - from clean and echoing picked guitar to more maiden-esque chuggy instrumental sections. Great songs with epic crescendos."

SUBBA-CULTCHA
"Powerful Pop Punk with AFIs knack for writing helium influenced melodies that captivate the listener whilst the music explodes on contact and forces you to sit up and listen, intently, from start to finish No breaks, you wuss!"

ROCKSOMETHING 4/5
"Kicking off with what sounds like an audio excerpt from a B-Movie horror flick, A Day Called Desire are clearly a band that are partial to a little bit of commotion as can be appreciated on this noteworthy debut EP of theirs. Drenched with infectious melodic oil and ignited by some rapid-fire musicianship, songs such as City of the Dead and Start of Something New show that this is an outfit willing to play their instruments rather than simply stand alongside them. Vocally impressive, Daniel Crossans delivery steers clear of pointless screaming and emotive yelping my goodness, he actually sings! Modern metal with audible lyrics? What an amazing idea! As long as this lot keep away from van fires (just check out their Myspace pictures), theyve got a promising future ahead of them."

HARDROCKHOUSE 7/10
"In Daniel Crossan they have a vocalist who could easily stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the best names in the Alt Rock scene and his quality alone is enough to elevate the band beyond the majority of their upcoming peers for me. I am also particularly interested in their Iron Maiden influence, which is extremely evident on the opening couple of tracks, City Of The Dead and Start Of Something New. Theres a melodic metal tinge to the sound which is different and, in my opinion, superior to many of the other similar bands Ive heard. I would certainly make every effort to catch them live if they play any shows in my area and I would highly recommend them to anyone into Alt Rock whilst even those with a more mainstream hard rock / metal liking may well find something to savour here. Keep it up lads !!! You can visit their website at www.adaycalleddesire.co.uk for more info including live dates going on right now."

CD SERVICES
"Brummy punks with an attitude and a knack of turning out songs that stick in your head, fun combined with a serious teeth-clenching, hand-wringing angst, as each of the 5 tracks and 18 minutes of music on here serves to testify. Amid a a quite raging sea of guitars and rhythm section, the lead vocalist comes out with a high-flying delivery thats right upfront but not intrusive, lyrically aware and coherent. The production is top notch as every facet of the songs is heard with ease, but nothing taken away from the sheer glorious power of it all."
