Ive grown tired of sleeping
the only time I open my blinds
is when the amber glow of a nearby streetlight
starts it's routine peek through the window
I find myself glancing at it, staring at it,
so ambient, I think to myself, but up close, hear the
buzzing of the lamp itself, calming and constant
but not tonight, no, not tonight
I need to concentrate.
I worry too much; analyization is my profession at heart.
I wonder if a streetlight has something to hide,
on the outside; it's just beaming and humming, but on the inside it is hot, burning, just waiting
to burst. Perhaps the same could be said about myself, or anyone
for that matter, but enough talk!
All attention must directed towards the letters and notes
you have strewn across the floor, i read them with care
angling them against the windows glare, just enough
to see the beauty of the words themselves
I pay no attention to what they mean at first, no.
I grace my eyes along the subtle curves and enticing
punctuations that you write. I find myself wondering, if you
really meant to put a comma here, there, or anywhere for that matter. I trick myself into thinking that you were beckoning me to go on.
No punctuation could stop me now.
Wait, why does this paper have ruled lines on it?
You always told me you that words should be free to live on paper
the way they were intended to, you whispered to me that you would
never write a single letter with words confined to a single space.
The ink is blue, not pitch black.
Blue is worthy of being bruised, black is the only confidence you say.
You're killing me darling.
Exploiting my weakness' like that never proved beneficial
but you loved to toy with me anyway, you wrote this letter
knowing I would stutter and stall after unraveling the perfect
folds, the creases you so perfectly pressed.

Precision beating and rotating gears.
Are you that opposed to the warm and genuine?
Memories are just like you.
From vivid to picturesque
its quite the same.
Something so fond, never lasts, always fades.

Who told you where I was?
I can't even trust myself
so who would I tell?
I look in the mirror
I thought to myself, maybe i gave it away
but there's no time for self doubt
the irony is, I have all the time in the world
So where does that leave us?
yes, I would say back to the beginning
but I always think to myself, what if Im
a kiss away, you breathe and Im finished
so hush down and listen to this story
exhale, I'm about to tell
Once upon a time, did time really matter?
the only kind of repetition in my life that didn't
involve numbers,
letters, or dates
was my own clock, oh i count the days
but time zones didn't care if we were on the same page
each movement of my hand, kept track of every flinch
you spin my second hand for minutes at a time
hoping that at some point Ill unwind
it's not that easy, not easy at all
to toy with such resilience
you insist that I take my batteries out
what do you call this?
a new weakness?
No, a daylight savings time,
Ill never hear about.

What's all the fuss about?
Only I know the coulour of your eyes.
Sure you can look in the mirrors, stare for
hours, I dare.
You're only seeing from the inside-out, not from the
outside-in.
You are so lucky.
What if there was some sort of, reverse mirror?
Some sort of, contraption that would enable
yourself to see you, the way I see you.
Would you be brave enough to use it?
Would you be brave enough to see what i see?
Fortunately i don't give refunds on this trip.
So what you see is what you get, literally.
