Drove to Chicago.....All things GO!
blog post
Brimley, our trusty B-17 Flying Fortress that is cleverly disguised as a Chevrolet 15 passenger touring rig, has just made yet another smooth descent down the side of an Eastern Pennsylvania mountain. The country here is beautiful. Snow covered. Rolling hills and tunnels cut through mountains. Old farms abound, and you are always greatful to see that gas stop perched precariously on the side of a cliff.
We're making the long journey back to Chicago. Infact we have to be there in less than 24 hours. All we are missing for this high speed cross country chase is a black Trans-Am and a semi filled with Coors Beer, and some really cool CB nicknames. But I guess since we are on the make outta Pennsylvania it would have to be Yuengling Lager. And alas I'm not nearly as cool or as lucky as some fine people who get to be named BJ....so I guess I'll just settle for Heath. Heath will do.
Appropriatly enough, beginning with the end in mind, I have Sufjan Stevens sweetly blowing notes through the earbuds of my Ipod. His Illinoise album being one of the few I don't grow sick of. Chicago is the current song. Brilliant. I'm identifying quite abit with this song, having just driven through New York in a van with my friends. And I really am in love with the place.
I mean, is everything amazing in NY state? We trekked through the amazing terrain of mountains and hills in Orange County. We stayed one night across from the amazing National Park that was Franklin Roosevelt's home in Hyde Park. I saw the Empire State Building, the most amazing sky scraper ever constructed, for a few fleeting seconds on our way from Poughkeepsie to Baltimore (another town filled with wonders and amazement). I blew it a kiss and said "See you in March." And thats not to mention all the amazing people we've had the opportunity to meet this past week. Noel, our resident mathmagician, crunched some numbers and informed us that in the last 6 shows, we've performed in front of nearly 13000 people. How amazing is that. No small thanks to Third Eye Blind for giving us the chance to let all those new ears listen to our songs.
Now we are headed west, into a new chapter of Absentstar touring.......
All things go, all things go.
