turnpike have a long history of playing (with) music. Starting in Brisbane sometime last century, turnpike has always endeavored to play music that wasnt comfortable. Comprising of tim (bass), adam (guitar,voice) and chris (drums), we are from the school of noisy, skewed guitars and irregular beats, bridged by the bass that finds the middle ground. Somehow we sew this up tight. Trying to keep this sound together is our challenge, making sense of it is yours. humans find patterns... is the latest record turnpike has to offer. Recorded over the last year and a half it is an eight song (or 40 minute) document. The main instrumentation of drums, guitar and bass was all recorded live in the same room to capture the relationship that we have to each other and the music as it unfolds. This show through in the urgency and flexibility of our music, these songs all happened in the same time at the same place, it was an event not a collage . To us making music is a relationship, between people, between situations and between the physical vibrations of air that we call sound. It is another example of humans finding patterns.
