Members: Komeng (treble guitar bow & noisy sounds), Ranyay (low guitar & experimental bell), Eza (middle Guitar & harmony sounds), Didi (Bass) and Iben (Drum).

Under The Big Bright Yellow Sun (UTBBYS) is an instrumental post-rock band which was created since 13th of August, 2007 in Bandung, Indonesia. The journey started since Yadi (Komeng) met Iben in an art gallery of the famous university which is located at the eastern of Bandung. With a same taste of music, they agreed to make an instrumental post-rock band that inspired of famous post-rock band, such as Explosions In The Sky, This Will Destroy You, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Mono, etc.

Their first formation consisted of four guys, namely Komeng (guitar), Eben (drum), Ion (guitar) and Apo (guitar). But Ion and Apo should leave the band because their own personal life, then their positions were replaced by Panji and Jay also. But thus, that formation didn’t last long, Panji’s position was replaced by Eza, and Jay’s role was replaced by Ranyay. Feel a need on filling the bassist’s role, Gani came in as the fifth personnel. In the end, he also chose to leave, now his position being filled by Didi.

Now, the personnel of UTBBYS are Yadi Riyadul a.k.a Komeng (treble guitar bow & noisy sounds), Ranyay (low guitar & experimental bell), Eza (middle Guitar & harmony sounds), Didi (Bass) and Iben (Drum). The name of Under The Big Bright Yellow Sun was taken from their own philosophy about how they live their life beautifully.

UTBBYS’s music is a reflection of their daily life. Happy, sad, grateful, desperate, depressed, anger, that’s all reflected from their music arrangement. UTBBYS don’t want to be glued with the post-rock pattern that’s identically with gloomy and monotonous. They do some experiment and sound’s exploration many times. Bow’s application, sound’s exploration with various guitar effect, the use of ambient sound and also experimentall bell have become the character of UTBBYS.
