Born and raised as Terence Wayne, Tru grew a huge passion for music at a young age. Like many other artist he sang in a church choir, Friendship Baptist Church, where he as inspired and began to look at himself as a musician. he fell in love with singing and performing and by high school he was in a group with one of his close friends called "Truth of Reality". The group didn't go far however it only pushed him harder at achieving success. After high school Terence re-invented himself as TruJourney. A name that reminds him to always remain true to himself on his musical journey. With the core belief that everyone has a journey and by staying true to yourself is the best way to achieve success he entered college at Villa school of Music full of optimism. There he met students like him that made him realize that he wasn't the only person yearning to make it in the music business. College fuled him even more. After college Tru participated in over 150 open mics and local showcases in Buffalo and became well established in his community. It wasn't until he did a show with PJ Morton that he realized in order to succeed he needed to move from Buffalo to a city more known for music in order to make the progress in his career that he was yearning for. Hence his journey to Atlanta began.
Trujourney's musical style can be referred to as the 4 horseman or 4 elements. With hip hop being the foundation, soul and electro house music with Jazz can be heard in the melodies and chords of his music. It's a new type of style that's never been brought to the game before. What makes him different is his ability to sing over a vast variety of production. Trujourney has burst onto the science with a calm cool and collective personality that everyone can relate to which can be reflected in his music.
Quote- "Consistency is key. Learn to embrace everything that comes along with consistency. The struggle the UPS and downs, sacrifice the tears and laughs. You really have to be passionate about ur work in order to be successful. There's always room for improvement."
