Members: Pierre Schifflers

The Plural Dilemma is a project that was created by Pierre Schifflers (me) :) on the 7th of August 2009.
I was inspired to create my own self-made, self-played project by Adam Young of Owl City. I thought the guy made great songs and that it was amazing that a single person could compose and play everything like that. So I thought, why not me?
My first song "Social Sensation" is the first song I ever wrote where I really focused on creating strong vocal melodies and vocal harmonies. It is also the first song I wrote where I really focused on conveying meaning through my lyrics. The song took about 4 days of composition to be completed and I recorded it by myself at my house on the 12th of August. The recording quality is not as good as the other two because it is a rough unmixed version, but when the EP comes out, it will feature a remixed version of the song.
My second song "Promises & Pearly Whites" is a song I started writing in Thailand and that I finished in Vancouver in late August. The recording took place in my dorm from October 1-4. All recording was done by me and the mixing and mastering of the track was done by Geoff Lister.
My third song "Thought, Meet Uncertainty" is quite a different song from the previous two in that it is much slower and sadder. It's by far my most personal song yet touching on emotions that I've been feeling ever since coming to UBC. It was recorded from the 27-29 of October and the mixing was finished on the 5th of November once again by Geoff Lister.
My fourth song "To Love Again..." is a song that I wrote about a particular evening of the past summer and which encompasses other emotions I was feeling at the time, it's once again a very personal song. It takes inspiration both on bands such as Moneen and Brand New, especially with the dual vocals towards the end. It was recorded between the 24th and 25th of November and the mixing was done on the 26th by Geoff Lister.
My fifth song "Skies That Never End" is a song about not knowing where your home truly is and how at certain times, it is nice to be able to call someplace your home. It was recorded in late January and early February and was mixed by Geoff Lister on the 4th of February.
As of Mid-October 2009, Roy Chan has taken over the duty as co-band manager along with me and he has also taken the duty of art director/designer for all artwork related to the project. He is the one that created the logo that you can see at the top of the billboard!
My influences are vast, but for this particular project I would have to state the following:
-Owl City
-All Time Low
-Dashboard Confessional
-City And Colour
-The Spill Canvas
Anyways, listen to my songs, and if you have any questions, comments, love, hate, whatever, leave a comment :) ps. If you want updates and news on what I'm doing at the moment, join the facebook group (link below!)

'When did love become a competition?' ... 'Everyone loves but me ...' This brings back old memories ... Isn't it one of the main goals of a good song? Good or bad memories ... but again you made it! Wow! What a very nice song both the lyrics and the music! I simply love it and I mean it. I can imagine with some strings ... Thanks again and again. Please more ... Happy New Year and may 2010 bring you everything you wish... and bring us more of your soul through your music... ;-) F Dec 30

... How should I put it ... Well, to be honest, I was a bit scared to be disappointed before listening to this 3rd song as I loved the first two and I could only wish you had done at least as well. What a surprise ! The newest song is really wonderful. With this song you reached a higher level. I feel more maturity both in the lyrics and the harmonies. I simply love when you sing two voices and when the lead guitar comes on top of the rhythm guitar. I guess with a piano and some violins this song would be more than wonderful. As I alrealy told you, you are gifted and I love what you give us... Please go on. I love this kind of slow songs and you have the kind of voice and music to fit this 'genre'. Thanks and looking forward to listening to the next one. F Nov 06

Wonderful music, I can feel you ARE a musician prior to being a singer -although your voice is really great ... and I mean it. That's very nice stuff ... I can only confirm what I already told you : write more and more and you will feel comfortable with a particular style. Your music is great, your voice has something peculiar which in the world of music is more than important ... I think you must now find your way, your style and stick to it ... Why not something 'slow' and quiet ? I'm pretty sure your sweet voice will bring something very interesting ... Thanks again for this second song. Please do not stop, never. You're gifted, my boy! ;-)F. Oct 04

I simply love it...! It's rich, the harmonies are great and the vocal melodies are very interesting. As a 'common' listener I must say that I'm convinced. I would like more. I would love reading the lyrics because I didn't get everything. Please move on... More... more! Thanks for this nice moment(s) - I listened to it several times! ;-) F. Aug 16
