The Interchangeable Hearts are a San Francisco band formed by Lina Hancock (vocals, keys), Shawn Scott (bass, synth, guitar), Ellard (drums) & Matt Driscoll (Guitar, Keys, Trumpet).
Perfect Life is the Heart's second offering. It brings together their signature confluence of haunting and sweet all with a pop sensibility. Hancock's lyrics take the listener on a journey as they describe both the elation and enigma that characterize modern life. The album is almost perfectly split with dark songs like Nailed to the Floor, Empty Rooms, Audio One and hopeful with Perfect Life, Waiting, and Everyone You Know. Hancock's vocals bathe the record in a warm, musing, sound reminiscent of bands like:
My Brightest Diamond, Metric, and Cat Power.
Produced and Mixed by Scott, the record is decidedly less lo-fi than the Hearts first release Lost. Large guitar, keyboards, horns, synths, and organ sounds fill the record with a lush, sonic soundscape.
