God blessed mankind with the ability to sing and play instruments, and I believe that this ability was given to every one of us so that we can praise and glorify our Creator. In the words of David the Psalmist, "Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy" (Psalm 33:3). Just as a composer writes a symphony and assigns each instrumentalist a section of the piece, we are also assigned certain things in our lives, and we all have something that God wants us to supply to the world. Whether it be singing, playing an instrument, preaching, or even just being able to find the good in people, God urges us to use these talents (Ephesians 4:11,12). He tells us that "whatever [our] hands find to do, to do this with all [our] hearts" (Ecclesiastes 9:10). And again, "whatever is true..noble...just...lovely, meditate on these things" (Philippians 4:8).
We are called to live to our full potential. We are called to be like Christ in His attitude and His outlook on life. That whatever is put into our lives, we use for God's glory. This is why I do music.

We’ve all heard the story. Base jumper Felix Baumgartner jumps out of a helium balloon positioned in the stratosphere and falls 24 miles towards the earth, breaking not only several records but the sound barrier on his way down. It amazed me, and made me think about the whole concept of outer space and how little we know about it. It has always intrigued me to think of the vastness that encompasses our home planet Earth. The Bible explains it this way: "The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, ‘Let there be light,’ and there was light.” Genesis 1:2-3 This vacuum of a place, devoid of life and light, was brought to life with a Word uttered by the mouth of the Almighty God. It says in Colossians 1:16 that in Christ (the Word of God), all things were created and through His power, the universe came to life. Jesus is able (and it is in His very nature) to bring to life all things that are devoid of any signs of life. With this New Year, it’s important to ask ourselves: are we leading a life that is devoid? Sometimes, it feels like we’re flying in outer space, unaware of what God is doing, confused as to where He’s leading us and why it’s so hard to believe in our abilities. But God promises that He will bring light. He promises a future filled with blessings. “Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 This year, God is waiting to give you the desires of your heart. He just asks that you do one thing: delight in Him. Jan 07

The idea behind "Too Deep for Words" is that no matter what I write or even attempt to write, the groanings of the Holy Spirit can never be expressed by words. St. Paul says in Romans 8:26 that although "we do not know how to pray as we should, the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words." For the past few days, I've had a lot on my heart, but didn't really know where to begin and exactly what to pray for. As I was saying words, trying to find the right ones, I was suddenly silenced by God and remained like this for about 20 mins. I then did the sign of the cross, and laid down on my back in bed. I had never felt such peace after a personal prayer as I did then. It helped me realize that prayer isn't about finding the right words to say, but by realizing that I never will and leaving my problems at the feet of Christ. Sep 01

"Mansion" is a humble expression of my (almost unconscious) thoughts about eternity and redemption. The song was written and recorded in the span of two and a half days, and I think it came so naturally because, well, it's my natural train of thought about this topic. Redemption is a mysterious subject, and we will never understand the fullness and greatness of this act that brought man and God together again. What we can do though, is explain it as much as we can, thank the God who made it possible, and then enjoy a life in light of this. Aug 10

If you're curious as to the inspiration behind the song "In All This," read this wall post I posted on my late buddy Kerolos Makhloof's wall (May God repose his soul in the Kingdom of Heaven). "I wrote this song about you man, I was inspired by your life. It's called 'In All This,' and it talks about how God really wants us to realize the greater plan, the greater purpose...He wouldn't make our lives as a vapor, if He didn't have a second, eternal life planned for us. He wouldn't put all this pain and tribulation in front of us here on earth, if He didn't have a place with eternal joy prepared for us in heaven. So the song is ultimately a prayer, that attempts to portray a longing of being with God eternally. You completed the race, and you ran strong the entire way...I ask you that you intercede for us in front of the Almighty God, so that He can pave the way for all of us, and so that we may run the race as well as you have."
