Slick, catchy, and slightly left of center Alternative rock... with a pop music sheen.

The members of Spaceship Days have been together for a lifetime.

Childhood friends and former collegiate swimmers Greg Torsone, Chuck Cox and Matt Mocharnuk, began their musical adventure in college playing in the Shoegaze band grey.

Together, the trio celebrated regional success, becoming a staple of NC college radio, playing shows in Austin TX during the South by Southwest Music Festival, and performing several opening gigs with some of the biggest national acts of the era. Unfortunately, as it often does, Life happened and after recording three albums and half a dozen demos, the band members went their separate ways.

Chuck went on tour with the regional Modern Rock band. Matt became wildly prolific as a songwriter, penning tracks for pop vocalists across both oceans and several genres. Greg opened Afterglow Studios recording and producing albums for several emerging local artists.

The three remained close while working on their respective projects, but it didn't take them long to realize they made better music while together than apart. As it happened, their second beginning was nearly identical to the first.

It was the summer of 2009. This time, the setting was a living room instead of a North Carolina State University dorm; the instruments were still acoustic, and the adult beverages were flowing a little less freely. What began as a Boys' Movie Night ended in a wild, frenzy of songwriting. Try as they might to talk themselves out of it, Matt, Greg, and Chuck were a band again.

Taking their name from a lyric in a Catherine Wheel song, Spaceship Days rode the wave from that first explosion of creativity recording most of their debut album The Halo Effect in six weeks.

The Halo Effect was released in February 2010 to wide acclaim.

Spaceship Days follow up effort Black Holes & Butterflies is now available.

Shadow Walking ,the first single from the new album, has been nominated for a 2010 Hollywood Music in Media Award for Best Alternative Song.
