Flashback to Summer 2010. Imagine playing in the beach, hanging out with friends and enjoying every moment away from the class room. Sounds relaxing. For Marshall Traver, who was only sixteen at the time, it was much more than that. It was the start of the one-man, pop outlet Sound of the Stereo.
Traver spent most of his Summer days writing and demoing songs for the project. Once he started reco...rding real material, he didn't stop. He would use all his free time on social sites such as Myspace, Facebook and Purevolume promoting his music. "Ever since I was like, seven, I wanted to do this. At this point I can't imagine myself doing anything else" Traver says.
After several months of writing and recording Sound of the Stereo's upcoming EP, 'Oh, The Places You Could Go' Traver went on to focus on more mainstream marketing and a live show. "I wanted to make sure all the music was full of dancey, catchy melodies but at the same time I wanted to focus on the live show. I wanted it to be a never ending party. A half hour of non-stopped moving and fun." He says.
In Winter 2010 Marshall recruited live members Dakota Clarke (drums), Thomas Silva (guitar/backing vocals) and Josh Wilson (bass). They spent a lot of time practicing for live shows until one day the live band went full band. What was once a one-man, pop outlet was now a pop quartet.
After months of hardwork and countless shows the mutual agreement came up that Thomas and Josh should leave the band for school. In August 2011 Sound of the Stereo recruited members Tony Rodriguez and Andrew Thomas to fill the slots.
Sound of the Stereo has a very bright future ahead of them with countless tours and shows planned all around the country, the highly anticipated EP to drop on Itunes this Fall and the constant release of new music. It's a promise that you haven't heard anywhere near the last of Sound of the Stereo!
