Members: Andrew Gillmore and Levi Throckmorton

Sisyphus Rexx is formally composed of Andrew Gillmore (lead guitars, rhythm guitars) and Levi Throckmorton (lead vocals, rhythm guitars), and has recently included Vera Higgs (backup vocals) into the mix. Since its inception in September, 2009, Sisyphus Rexx has worked on writing, rewriting, arranging, and practicing original material, and has played at a number of events at and around Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA in the past year.

Lyrically provocative, the group has so far focused on various struggles a person may face, staying true to the story of Sisyphus, the tragic hero in Greek mythology. Musically, they have so far stuck to acoustic guitars and vocals, but find influences in blues-based, forward-driven rock and alternative music, while attaching special importance to the invention of catchy or stimulating melodies. Adding Vera Higgs as a backup soprano, the musical aspect of Sisyphus Rexx has exploded by allowing them to craft intricate harmonies and grand-sweeping descant parts. The group has to this point maintained simplicity by limiting instrumentation, while exploring the possibility of vocally complex, and sometimes challenging, parts.
