Red Llama Dog was formed back in the summer of 2000. Founder John Pacheco (lead singer) was then singing backup and touring with the locally famous San Diego band, Psydecar. While touring with Psydecar, John would meet the members who would later form Red Llama Dog. The first of these members would be Ryan Macdonald, a soulful percussive drummer with elements of Funk, Jazz, Rock, and Roots flowing out of his sticks.
Ryan had been playing with a few Roots Reggae bands around town and quickly took to the various styles presented him. He would later join John in a revolutionary new style of music. But still, something was missing. That is where Anthony Washington, a hard hitting hip hop, electronica, R & B bassist comes in.
John and Anthony had met a long time ago in high school, and later learned that they both had lived in the same area on Oahu in Hawaii. With so much in common, including the love of music, John, Ryan, and Anthony, quickly found that they all had a talent for pushing the music to a point where labels and stereotypes had started to wither and fall off.
The band played for four years around San Diego, filling the bars with patrons and music. All seemed to be well until a set back would send Red Llama Dog back into the rehearsal room looking for additional new members to complete the sound. Just when it seemed hopeless to find the key members needed, Adam Reiter popped into the picture.
Adam and John had been co-workers for over three years at a San Diego based company, and had jammed a few times while hanging out. John quickly found that Adam had great timing and a musical ear, and realized that he could be an element that Red Llama Dog was missing. With Adams love and understanding of rock music and the guitar, the band quickly started incorporating gutty Rock overtones into the music, and a harder edge was put on an ever evolving style. But again, something was still missing. That something was Brian Fleck!
With an education in music and a day job teaching children the love of music, Brian Fleck was a prime candidate for the band and its vision. With a wealth of knowledge and the ability to play multiple instruments, Brian Fleck brings the warm hypnotic sounds of the keys to Red Llama Dog. With the addition of the new members of Red Llama Dog intact, and with the completion of the 2009 Demo package, Red Llama Dog is ready to hit the music scene once again!
Our vision is as complex as our name! We want to bring the people, no matter what race, culture, or creed together, through music and appreciation for each other. For too long we have been divided and poisoned by music and culture that does not teach the love for each other. Through conscience lyrics and positive vibes, Red Llama Dog hopes to reach the people and help teach unity and love.
