The 21st century brought under its wings a new beginning for metal music in Paraguay. It started with an impulse based on both, the experiences of the heavyweights of local music such as Corrosion, Rawhide, Stonehenge and Batallon, and of course the Gods of Metal at the international level.
This impulse gave birth , among many things, to a group of young warriors of metals that called themselves RUSHMORE because the ways of this century imposed them a faster then usual lifestyle.
The first battle of the Rushmorian hordes took place the night of July 9th of 2007 in the venue of Absoluo Rock, being the opening act for a true legend of national metal of our time that is Patriarca.
With Paulo Santos and Julio Peralta at guitars, Nicolas Cañete at bass, Cesar Nicolicchia at drumms, and Gustavo Grossling at vocals, the band promoted in that opportunity their debut EP ¨A New Beginning¨(2007, Hernan Gonzales recording studios.) Some of the songs included ¨A new beginning¨, ¨The eye of the storm¨, ¨La noche antes¨,and ¨Perdido en la realidad¨.
Aware that the battle for a spot in national metal would have a long road, the band has added the support of one of the most complete and agressive singers from this part of the continent: Julio Franco, who has left a trademark in the band with the hit ¨Take me away¨ and has performed at, among others, the presentation of the powermetal ¨Vision Divine¨(2007), offering an unforgetable concert.
Despite their short existence, Rushmore has had the priviledge of stepping into important stages in inside and outside the country. That..s the way the torch of these warriors burned in festivals such as the Penta Music Metal Fest, the Covenant Fest, the Covers Night, Covers Louder Fest, the Mbarakapu Rock Fest, Metal PY Spring Concert, and the most important in Paraguay: the Asuncion MOSH 2008, where it unleashed all its power in a spectacular end of the year celebration. These experiences allowed the band to gain the support, recognition and affection of big crows in the local scene.
One of the most important battlefields for these warriors of metal was the Southamerican tour were they joined legend of rock and metal: Paul Di Anno (ex Iron Maiden). The tour took them to travel stages in Chile (Santiago, Valparaiso and Concepcion), Argentina ( Buenos Aires), Uruguay (Montevideo), and Brasil, gathering crows that even reached 25,000 people at Sao Paulo, ocation at which they shared the stage with Andreas Kisser (ex Sepultura) and Hugo Mariutti (ex Shaaman) and closing the tour at an spectacular concert at the Ferrocarril Central of Asuncion, occation where 1,500 people cheered the giant Di Anno, as well as the performance and attitud of this novel group of musicians.
During all this road traveled, Rushmore grew a countless flow of friends, followers, and supporters. This increases the compromise the band has to offer, gig aftar gig, the professionalism and attitud in retribution to the support it received since the beginning. Rushmore is currently working on its debut album, which is planed to be edited during this year.
