As of September 6th, 2010, we have broken up.
Project MK-ULTRA (pronounced em kay ultra) was a progressive rock band from Haledon, New Jersey named after the top-secret mind control experiments performed by the CIA in the 1950's and 60's. This is where we're supposed to tell you about how we're exploding onto the "scene" with a "fresh breath of alt rock music" and to follow our Twitter accounts and join our street team to help get our "message" out. However, we'd like to think that we have more integrity than that and won't degrade the people that choose to listen to us by categorizing them as some sort of monetary asset, depended upon to wage a Crusade for some romanticized vision of a rock band's struggle to make it into the limelight. To be honest, there's nothing we loathe more than a cookie cutter band (of any genre) spoon feeding formulaic compositions to easily impressionable youths, selfishly forging together a consumption-driven music scene. If you take nothing else away from this paragraph take this: each member of this band is making this music solely for themselves and their own musical inquisitiveness. If you happen to enjoy it as well, that's incredible; if you don't enjoy it, at least you felt something, right?
Click on a recording to the right to listen to a streamed MP3 format of it. There are several performances from the band's different line-ups. Any release titled with a date (ex: 03.20.09) is a live recording of a rehearsal.
