I love minimalism. I love my piano. But I also love extreme metal and I love my drums.
So I experiment.
After months of writing, rewriting and demoing, I'm finally able to start sharing my first single, The Atheist In The Cathedral. It's one track from my project outside of my work as editor of Wired.co.uk. Stream it free here or support by buying a download on iTunes.

As the comment below, I too like the idea. The re-occurring melodic theme of the calming piano, with the (at times) aggressive drums and guitar. Almost as if a story is being told by the piano, and the drums & guitar are sharing a darker side. However, the idea aside, I don’t like the whole, actual, song. The drums clearly do not go with the track. When introduced, they sound like they have been spliced from another track; the tempos of the 2 are completely off. By the middle of the song, the piano starts to become boringly repetitive; it becomes clear, it’s the same piece of music over and over again. Unfortunately for me I don’t see the (self-proclaimed?) similarities with either the epic and skilfully crafted Muse, or the harrowing, haunting epic of Cradle. Like the idea, but for me, would not be ready to go to press. A good attempt all the same! RA Aug 10

Nate, I love the idea, really appeals to my music taste, and by the end it's sounding ace. There are just a couple of areas in the tune where some of the tracks seem slightly out of kilter. However, it's still infinitely better than I can do, so props! Aug 09
