Mankind es una banda chilena de metal progresivo formada en la ciudad de La Serena a mediados del año 2008 por Alvaro Ahumada (Guitarra), Daniel Carvajal (Voz), Felipe Lisboa (Bajo), Ignacio Orellana (teclado y Sintetizadores) y Jose Luis Berrios (Bateria). La historia comienza en Agosto del año 2008 cuando surge el interes de crear la banda a causa de un importante concurso regional de bandas, por ello, se forma una union entre 2 bandas locales, Daniel Carvajal e Ignacio Orellana provenientes de la banda tributo a Iron Maiden "Prophecy" y Felipe Lisboa, Alvaro Ahumada y Jose Luis Berrios provenientes de la banda tributo a Death "Mankaine", (grupo que le da el nombre posteriormente al actual grupo) a través de esta fusión, se crea "Mankind" derivando el antiguo nombre y cuyo signficado es "raza humana" o humanidad".

Su primer gran logro lo obtienen ganando una pequeña guerra de bandas en la cuidad de Coquimbo concursando con otros 10 conjuntos, obteniendo el primer lugar gracias a su primer single "Hope In The Darkness".

El segundo gran logro fue ganar a 47 bandas en el concurso regional mas importante de la ciudad compitiendo con bandas de gran nivel y evaluados por grandes musicos, haciendo covers del grupo estadounidense Dream Theater como "A fortune In Lies", "Only A Matter Of Time y la extendida version de "Another Hand/The Killing Hand", es asi como obtienen el primer lugar y reciben como premio un demo grabado en Tarkus, uno de los mejores estudios de grabacion del pais, ubicado en Santiago, la capital.


Mankind is a Chilean band of progressive metal formed in La Serena city in the middle of the year 2008 by Alvaro Ahumada (Guitar), Daniel Carvajal (Lead Vocal), Felipe Lisboa (Bass), Ignacio Orellana (keyboards and Synthesizers) and Jose Luis Berrios (Drums). The history begins in August, 2008 when the interest arises of creating the band because of an important regional contest of bands for it, an union is formed between 2 bands: Daniel Carvajal and Ignacio Orellana from the Heavy Metal band "Prophecy" (Iron Maiden tribute) and Felipe Lisboa, Alvaro Ahumada and Jose Luis Berrios from the Death Metal band "Mankaine", (group that gives the name later to the current group) Through of this fusion, creates "Mankind" deriving the former name and the meaning is "raza humana" or "humanidad" in spanish.

The first great achievement was wining a small battle of the bands in Coquimbo city competing with other 10 bands, obtaining the first place thanks to the first single " Hope In The Darkness ".

The stardom comes when they won front to 47 bands in the most important regional contest competing with bands of great level and evaluated by great musicians, doing covers of the american group Dream Theater such as "A fortune In Lies", "Only A Matter Of Time" and the extended version of "Another Hand/The Killing Hand" of almost ten minutes and for this amazing perfomance they won the first place and receive as prize a demo tape of 3 songs in one of the best recording studios of the country, located in Santiago, the capital.
