"I don't do music for the public, I do it for me. If the public enjoys it, then it's even better. More points for me, extra credit." - MaeganBootz
I was born on May 28, 1988, and raised in Lewisburg, TN. I grew up listening to Gospel music and was the first in my family to do music as a hobby. My mom died when I was 10 years old, and that's when I started my musical career. I started off in piano lessons at age 10, and traded learning the piano for a saxophone at age 11. I started making beats on live instruments and Finale Notepad, then I upgraded to using Fruity Loops in early 2006.
Growing up, I listened to BeBe and CeCe Winans. After my mom died, I started listening to TLC, Aaliyah, Missy Elliott, and R.Kelly. Now I like Gucci Mane, Lil Boosie, and a lot of indie artists.
I composed music for the band in high school. I read, write, compose, breathe, eat, and sleep music. I attended college with a full academic scholarship at Tennessee State University where I chose to become a music major with a minor in mathematics. I joined The Aristocrat of Bands and marched from Fall 2006 to Spring 2007.
"I do music because I don't want to work a regular job. I'm above average, so I won't settle for anything of the norm." - MaeganBootz
I have three goals. First, I want to be able to provide for my child by making music. Secondly, I want to keep improving. There is always something that can be done better. Music is never a finished project; it's an art. Last but not least, I want to build a few open studios for the youth to show the kids that they don't have to be swayed by bad influences.
