WinterFest'09 and metal4africa travelling to Durban â¦
As those of you who were there would obviously know, www.metal4africa.com threw one hell of a party with 'WinterFest'09' this weekend past, and what a night! It was awesome to see the quality of music from the bands who participated really climbing up to new heights, and especially the newer guys on the scene kicking some serious assâ¦
We had a lot of fun jamming, and it looked like the crowd enjoyed our stab at the economic crises with the "Metal Workers Union" and various onstage antics. It's good to see that even with the pressures of the world crunching us all in a vice-grip, we can still have as much fun as if there were no problems at all. Metallum Recreo!
For those who were unable to make it, go check out the review at http://www.metal4africa.com/m4a-winterfest09 and various other places where people have posted.
We are playing our first hometown gig in 2 years! Can you believe we live in a place and never play there? Anyways, Mind Assault will be hitting The Nameless Pub on the 29 th of this very month in a bid to reclaim our home territory. Joining us in this adventure will be the new Stellenbosch band Odian â they are excellent, so don't miss this opportunity to catch them performing in Somerset West for the very first time. The venue has authorized all sorts of drinking specials and competitions, so it's going to be one of those⦠bring your video camera's. Event page on Facebook HERE.
Great news is that www.metal4africa.com is taking its first step outside of the Western Cape and is headed for the East Coast, so Kwazulu Natal, be warned â Mind Assault is coming with for a concert on September 5th! It is very likely we will also be presenting another workshop on behalf of Laney Amplification â check out http://www.laney.co.uk â on the afternoon of the show, so if you are a guitarist, come and gullet some beers with us and jam on some of the worlds meanest gear (as used by Opeth, Toni Iommi, Arch Enemy, etcâ¦). We'll be focusing mostly on the differences between valve and solid state technology, so come and pose your questionsâ¦
This should be a killer weekend, as it's been months and months since we last visited the region. We are also exploring the chance for a visit to Pietermaritzburg on Friday the 4 th , so keep an eye on the news.
Otherwise, it's still a relatively quiet year for the MA team as we hang onto every penny and try to save up for the next studio project. So far, the new material is piling up and we need to get it down on track before playing too much of it live â but we will offer a few sneak previews at the shows, as we did at WinterFest'09 â haha! In the meantime, no promises on dates, unfortunately.
