MORTON was founded in 2009, first as the metal-oriented studio project of Max Morton. The primary idea was to collect and improve the material of all the previous bands he was playing in. However, the new ideas and songs appeared during the process of recording, so it became clear that MORTON had to be upgraded into the live band.

That's exactly what happened when Max found Dmitry Smotrov (drums) and Alexander Rudnev (guitars). Both Alex and Dmitry had great talent and common musical tastes. The band started rehearsing intensively, auditioning numerous bass players. At the same time, Max was finishing recording and mixing the debut EP called "Grimoire".

On April 2010 "Grimoire" was released and put online as a free download, receiving numerous positive reviews.

Soon after the release, the band decides to schedule it's first show - so they began collaboration with the session bass player Andrey Karpov, the same exact person, who did the artwork and lyrics for "Grimoire". MORTON's debut performance took place in the bike club Route 66, on June 23. Immediately after the concert, the band receives invitations to the several more events - two shows in Kyiv and one in Kharkov.

In the end of July, MORTON has finally found the fourth member of the band - Andrey Shevchuk. He turned out to be the perfect candidate - both musically and as a person.

In November 2010 the band released their debut music video based on the new song "Sleeping King". By all means, the video-clip deserved to be called self-produced: the financial aspects, plot, organizational issues were undertaken by Max himself.

The band plans to release their first LP this winter, 2010-2011. The recording process is already close to it's successful ending and the negotiations with the recording labels are in progress.
