League of Legends Guide Tip #1. Map Awareness
All great players have great map awareness. They always know where enemy champions are by frequently glancing on the minimap. You should ALWAYS have a count in your mind of where enemy champions are. For instance, if you see 1 champion in every lane on Summoner's Rift, you no doubt know that there are 2 champions MIA (Missing in Action) - usually the jungler and something other. By learning the enemy's whereabouts, it will determine your gameplay and just how aggressive or cautious you need to play. If all 5 are MIA, then you should be cautious. If you see all 5 in the spotlight, then you can play aggressive (assuming they're far enough away not to interfere) Contest
League of Legends Guide Tip #2. Wards
Wards are necessary and go hand-in-hand with map awareness. When it comes to Gold for a second here.. it costs 75g for a green ward. Which means 4 of them costs 300g - the same amount of Gold given for the champion kill. If you buy four wards and something of them saves you coming from a gank, it was MORE than worth it! Because whenever you die, you have to take into account all the costs involved - 300g to the enemy killer, plus any gold from assists they get, plus you'll miss out on 2-3 minion waves of experience, plus you overlook 10-18 last hits. What a huge cost of dying. So buying wards, even if all they do is stop you from getting ganked 25% of the time, is more than worth it.
When you watch the Season One Championships, you will see how many wards these great players buy. They're buying wards almost EVERY SINGLE TIME THEY SHOP. That's the way you should play too! No excuses that "I'm a carry, it is not my job." It's everyone's job to offer sufficient ward coverage in game. Wards win games. Period. Giveaway
I know it sucks not to finish your big item as you had to buy a few wards, but wards could make a much bigger impact hanging around than your big item - simply because they will allow you to pick the RIGHT FIGHTS with the RIGHT TIME.
League of Legends Guide Tip #3. Study Every Game and Every Mistake
Great players study on every game and every mistake. They always ask themselves both of these questions at the end of a casino game.
Question 1. "What mistakes were made in this game?"
This question applies to every player amongst gamers - teammates, and enemies. Did the enemy team get Baron because no-one on your team warded it? Did an enemy walk into 5 people and die? Every little mistake must be noted so that you can learn To refrain from giving that.
This is how you become a great player - by analyzing mistakes and patterns and never making them.
Question 2. "What could We've done better?"
This is actually the MOST IMPORTANT question and strategy for becoming a great League of Legends player. What might you have done better? Would you miss some last hits? Why? Figure it out, and get better! Do you get ganked early on? Why? Figure it out and get better! Get wards the next occasion instead of getting ganked. Would you target the wrong enemy champion inside a team fight? Why? Figure it out and get better!
There's just one way to become a 2000+ rated player in League of Legends - progress! And you do that by analyzing your individual and others' gameplay and learning from your errors and successes.
League of Legends Guide Tip #4. Study from Great Players
Anytime you see a player kick ass in the game, add these to your friends list and talk to them. Ask them regarding their runes, their masteries, and any other tips or advice that they've for you. Great players spend time with other great players and discover from each other.
