Love Me Butch is a great mix of rock, metal and a passionate display of emotion. Hailing from Malaysia this record holds certain Easter flavours that give it an intriguing and atmospheric edge over their peer’s efforts. My biggest grievance is the production, or rather the production of certain elements. Basically in the fantastic, powerful and wah laden; ‘The Protector’ the riffs are flat and just not edgy enough - the production techniques need to be more akin to early Incubus or Insolence. This would really give the music a far more exciting edge. That said when the melodies and distortion take a backseat all feels well. There is little to be faulted in; ‘Never Ending Tunnel’ - an epic song that takes the emotional elements from the opening song and weaves them into a 6 minute journey. While there is an obvious hint of latter day emo throughout the song and the vocals sometimes seem a little over the top - the bridges make for a sporadically beautiful track.
