Members: John Gauvin, Mike Loader, Steve Ray
Knuckle Business was co-founded by guitarist John Gauvin and percussionist Mike Loader in the fall of 2008. Although the two had been longtime friends (over 15 years), their musical paths didn't cross until Gauvin started an open mic at a local bar. Loader would attend the open mic to give support. Soon after, the two started jamming with strictly acoustic instruments and writing folk-based rock songs. "Twin Air Mattress" and "Naked River" were soon finished and the core of the writing style was determined. Basic riffs and beats would be the rhythm but colorful and sometimes humorous soul would be the writing process. They would hone their unique style for the next couple of years.
After a hiatus that lasted the better part of a year, the two reunited for a benefit show in February of 2013. Not long after, the two started writing again and produced some of their best material to date. Confident in their new material, Knuckle Business started promoting locally. Along the way, the two caught friend Amanda McCue performing at an open mic. Thoroughly impressed with her vocal ability and range, they ask her to jam. It was not long before McCue joined Knuckle Business as a full-time member. The new 3-piece is currently writing and recording in hopes to complete a full length demo by fall of 2013.
