Members: Kate Havnevik
Kate is now gearing up for the release of the long-awaited follow up to her debut album, Melankton. The work on the new album started in autumn 2008 with the aim to release it the following spring, but when health problems set in, Kate decided to put all release plans on hold, and take as much time as she needed to finish the work. As before, the music on Kate's new album bears the hallmarks of cosmopolitan internationalism through its electronic beats and atmospheric production; although Kate is no generic diva. Havnevik's distinctive, breathy vocal style makes each track instantly recognizable, as a Kate song. The new tracks were produced by her long time collaborators, Guy Sigsworth ( Frou Frou ) and Petter Haavik ( Ost & Kjex ) of Norway. Trumpet virtuoso, Jon Hassell, makes an appearance on the album, as well as Adam Young (Owl City) who applied his mixing and post production skills to one track.
In 2009, Kate released two singles, "Show Me Love" and "Halo", and a limited edition (audiophile quality) EP titled "Me", that was only sold as hardcopy on tour or from her website.
Kate continues to collaborate with different artists. Having previously collaborated with Royksopp, Noel Hogan (The Cranberries) and LA electronica hipster, Carmen Rizzo, Kate has co-written and is featured on the multi platinum German artist Schiller's new album "Atemlos" which was released, 12. March 2010. A new track "This Life" for Carmen Rizzo's third album was released 11. May 2010. And, with Scotland's electronic wiz-kid, Unicorn Kid, Kate co-wrote and features on the song, "Brown Bear", release date tba.
Most recently, Kate joined german electronica artist, Schiller, on a 15 date german tour, in May 2010. Apart from that, Kate has headlined shows this year at clubs in Oslo and at London's Ronnie Scott's and opened for Imogen Heap, and guitar virtuoso, Kaki King. Havnevik has previously toured with bands like Air, Royksopp, Sigur Ros, and Owl City and has taken part in the Hotel Cafe tours in the US.
Being an independent artist having her own small label Kate will be launching a pledge campaign soon to try to raise money for the release of her new record, she will also be doing various one off gigs so keep an eye on the live listings.
