JollyHeads Circus is a Barcelona based indie folk rock band featuring Danny Nemirovsky (vocals, guitar), Andreu Monclus (lead guitar, piano), Aurelien Gana (drums, percussion), and Luifer Guirados (bass, synths) that formed in early 2011. Each member represents a different nationality (American, Spanish, French, and Venezuelan) that were brought together by their shared musical influences (The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, David Bowie, Tom Waits, Simon and Garfunkel, Nick Drake, Radiohead, Wilco, The Decemberists, and Dr. Dog) with the goal of composing and playing original songs.

The group has roots dating back to the summer of 2009 when Danny, Andreu, and Cecilia Gimenez’s traveled together along the west coast of the United States. The three were later reunited in Barcelona and started to play local shows with drummer/percussionist Aurelien in 2010. Early in 2011, Cecilia and the group parted ways as she moved to the serene island of Mallorca. The heartfelt goodbye however, also led to the group meeting their current bassist, Cecilia's friend and producer Luifer.

After a year undergoing significant changes, JollyHeads Circus began to work intensely on composing and arranging new songs for their forthcoming album. The songs draw inspiration from Beatles, Doors, and Wilco among others and include lyrical homage’s to Hunter S. Thompson and emotional portrayals of personal experiences in the current globalized society. After considerable positive response from playing their new material at live shows, the band went on to Bucbonera Records (working with expert sound engineer Tomas Robisco) to record and self produce their debut album ‘The Kaleidoscope Dawn’ during the first two weeks of December 2011. The album is expected to be released in Spring 2012.

JollyHeads Circus is currently playing shows in and around Barcelona with plans to play regularly within Europe in 2012.


Danny Nemirovsky – The Poet – Everything that spews out of Danny’s mouth is pure lyrical honey. No doubt, the mere sounds form a poetry of their own. This is attributed to the common misconception of melodies but that will not faze Danny. In fact, having once been introduced to the magician Elvis at the age of 11, Danny never looked back at a time before he began imitating Elvis dancing in his underwear, or later practicing Beatles songs on his first Squire, or even later trying to recreate Radiohead’s brilliant musical intensity while starting to write songs of his own during his studies at the University of Michigan and Manchester UK. Danny once thought that being an astronaut would have also been a great vocation, but then reconsidered after he found out he could not afford it, realistically speaking. Danny spends the remainder of his days in his Barcelona cave with his beautiful wife and Butters the dog, doing what he’s always loved, imagining stories and playing music.

Andreu Monclus – The Alchemist – Andreu has been trained in the art of alchemy in a method following a traditional code dating back several millennia. He
hails from the rich soils of Catalunya where he found his true passion in the magical mix. At 14, Andreu threw his Spanish guitar and two of his four hands into one of his potions while possessed listening to While My Guitar Gently Weeps. By morning all that remained was Andreu and his new electric guitar, both snug on the floor huddled warmly to one another underneath a bearskin blanket. His ability to combine music into potions is only matched by his endless determination and energy. Andreu likes to eat his dinner at 10pm.

Aurelien Gana – The Carpenter – Few persons are born and raised as this peculiar Frenchman. Living a musical and free spirited childhood, Aurel displays few of the barriers forced into most pupils of the standardized education system. As if this would limit his ability to carpenterize things, he has experienced more than enough “practical” events to help cement his craft. The man forges his own paths towards artfully finishing his works with painstaking precision. A trait which naturally morphs into earthy beats but without missing a drop of that classy Frenchman poise. Together with upholding the band’s functional basis, Aurelien is charged with the task of carpenterizing eco friendly bicycles for the princes of the region. Aurelien experiences early morning lapses of consciousness caused mostly by researching at a three level deep dream according to the Inception scale.

Luifer Guirados – The Gardener – His expertise in cultivating sublime musical licks and embellishments is only matched by his uncanny ability to grow some of Spain’s greenest imagination which quickly immerses one in the haze that is his genuine hospitality. Born and raised in Venezuela, Luifer became mesmerized by the outdated (vintage) equipment playing classic rock tracks around him, leading him to learn to write and produce music. Luifer’s mind likes to play tricks on him leading him on the endless song, while a holy grail for most, he somehow manages to take pauses for recreation and the finest take out. Luifer also suffers from the distinctive Latin gene and has a life debt to Aurelien for his work in the field at finding a cure.
