There was an emperor around 64 A.D., named Nero. This emperor would literally burn people on fire just to light up his festivities and at dinner parties he would take people that believed in the living God, put them on the stake, dip them in wax and light them on fire. Can you believe such a time that people believed God's word so much that when he said, "Go!" they went. In Acts 1:8 Jesus says, "Go and be my martyrs." 11 disciples believed in Jesus so much that they died for everything that He stood for (John didn't die a martyr, but he did go through a lot of torture). Matthew was killed by a sword wound. Mark was drug by horses in the street till he was dead. Luke was hanged for preaching to the lost. Peter was crucified up-side-down. James the Just was thrown over a building and then stoned to death. James the Greater was beheaded. Bartholomew was fled to death by a whip. Andrew was crucified. Thomas was stabbed by a spear. Jude was beating with an air hose when he refused to deny Christ. Matthias was stoned. Why didn't all these men just quit.. because Jesus said, "Go."

Soren Kierkegaard once said, "The thing is to understand myself, To see what God really wants for me to do; The thing is to find a truth which is true for me, To find the idea for which I can live and die."

Whether you believe in God or not, we know that there is a world hurting out there. Hopeforthefallen isn't simply here just to play music, which is great, but also to help those that are in need around us. In 1 Timothy 2:4 it says that God isn't willing to see any man perish. We aren't willing to see that happen either. We may not die martyrs like millions of other great believers have, but we all have the opportunity to live a life and to find the idea for which you can live and die for. And bring hope to a hurting generation.
