As the former frontman for the alternative rock band Nothing Sacred, Gavin always composed and wrote all of his music on acoustic guitars. After the band split up in 05', it only seemed natural to go back to his roots by eventually starting to play solo acoustic shows and finally recording his first solo acoustic album released in 2009 "Felicidad." "The rawness and humility of a single acoustic guitar and just your voice, everybody being able to hear your mistakes or feel your emotions is what I love about it" says Gavin. "Even in the Nothing Sacred days I would always come up with the melody on the acoustic first, even the harder songs . It just felt natural." After not playing the guitar or shows for quite awhile, Gavin couldn't fight the want for his voice and music to be heard anymore by recording and producing "Felicidad" alone in his bedroom. "It was kind of an experiment just to see if I could do it. There are mistakes and stuff on there but I just said screw it, it's an acoustic album so I may end up making some of the mistakes live anyway" he states. "Sometimes I recorded in my underwear with a couple of pots of coffee. I gaurantee my neighbors hated me seeing as I recorded it in my apartment in Houston, TX. at the time." After fronting an alternative rock band with music that sometimes could spawn the greatest of mosh pits, his transition back to quiet melodies and showcasing his voice now has been praised by fans and critics alike.
