sometimes the world of bands and banding and being a dude in a band is a lot like being an animal on Wild Kingdom.
you see, animals are constantly adapting, moving around, and eating each other. it’s the way nature sort of intended their lives to be, also known as The Circle of Life, made famous in the classic snuff film/drama, The Lion King. another great cinematic example is the erotica/musical masterpiece, The Land Before Time, although that particular film featured dinosaurs, which are technically demons, not animals. in the film, the five prehistoric friends move from their less fertile homeland to a "promised land" of sorts. life cannot go on where there is nothing to feed on and no room to grow.
the same is true in the music world, although most musicians do not eat each other (i’m looking at you, Slipknot). once a band feels dry and barren, the creativity chokes and the band needs to move on in order to stay alive. the point of this ridiculous C-minus-at-best rant is to acknowledge the fact that a few of us in GIRLFIGHT used to be in a band called Die Rote Kapelle. while DRK once fed our hunger for fun and creativity, it eventually became a drought in which we could not push ourselves and grow. thus, we have moved to more fertile ground, and have taken in many different influences along the way, and we feel we are in a great place to grow and flourish and mate and populate.
maybe not "mate", but you get the point.
i hope.
in any case, we’re glad to be back and hope that you welcome us back into your open arms, and we are stoked as hell to high-five and hug our way back into your hearts.
see you soon!
love,
Dave & GIRLFIGHT
