Born in 2005 from the meeting between Matteo (vocals) and Max (guitar),FOLLOWING THE SHADE were born as a musical project with the idea and the attempt to create their own songs. Uncertain about the type of sound they wanted to give the band, during the first two years, tons of musicians from many other Roman bands, took turns playing the instruments. Thanks to the entry of drum player Adriano, the band's musical style begins to take shape. He creates faster and more intense rhythms, stemming from his 70's-80's background that enrich the sound with more metal shades. Sascha (bass) steps in after a few months and the group seems to start stabilizing with his presence. When the guitar riffs begin to evolve in a meaningful and tuneful way, a second guitar player becomes indispensable, as does a second voice in order to accompany the main vocals changes; after a series of auditions the choice falls on Alessio (guitar) who proves to be the perfect addition to the band. The difference between the first songs and the current ones is indeed remarkable, due to the band's growing maturity and experience. Thanks to the collaboration with ELLIOTT'S GARAGE the quality of the recordings improve ,while still retaining the trademark rough and edgy quality of the band. The band becomes more and more confident, and in a very short time their sound shifts from a very melodious emocore (where an unusual feminine voice often appears), to a pluckier and more aggressive swedecore. The songs become more varied: the opening lyrics range from powerful and caustic in "The Lie Behind Your eyes" or "Psalm, 23" , to sweet and dream-like in the single "Three Steps" , managing to blend perfectly, creating a tracklist that is both extremely varied and harmonious. The lyrics, become more alive, more sincere, filled with a new force verging almost on anger. Two songs are immediately released: "Three steps" and "The Lie Behind Your Eyes" followed shortly after by "The Others" and "Psalm, 23" and lastly by "Slippin' Thru My Hands" , that traces the title of an old piece of the band, and "Forgiveness" inspired by the movie " The Thirteenth Warrior". The first six pieces collect a big success in Rome's underground and beyond, on the webzine Metallized, the first one that reviews the promo, and moreover they stimulate the interest of Italian and international metal and metalcore's personalities, like Joshua Brigham, Hopesfall's guitar player, that decides to participate to the recordings of "The Others". The new metal tendencies, by now more centralized on tipically swedish rhythmics and melodies, approaches more and more to the still unexpressed ideas of the quintet. The first songs are composed in a little time just when they decided to release their more melodic and nostalgic ,but at the same time more malicious and violent, instinct. Elliott's Garage 's availability allows FTS to record "Addicted to Failure" and "Why the Bleed?" , precursor pieces of the new line continuation followed by the five. When later on Adriano leaves the band, Daniele (drums) takes the vacant place, succeeding to impose himself without delay thanks to his charge and his style, induced from his own death/brutal curriculum, that enriches Following The Shade's sound of a marked and mature rhythm. Some tracks like "The others" and "Psalm, 23" are re-arranged and re-adapted to the style that seems more in accordance with the instinct of the band. And quickly the first proposals arrive. .. STANDBY RECORDS seems to be interested in FTS to the point to propose them to record their debut album with their own producer. ...THE BEST IS YET TO COME! -FTS-
