Formed in June of 2008 Flags Of The Soviet Republic are a bearded alternative rock band from Blackpool, UK. The four piece group comprises of Alan Gillhespy (Vocals/Guitars), John Graham (Guitars/Vocals), Glen Moyers (Bass/Cello) and Steven Pedro Pellatt (Drums/Piano). The band cites its main musical influences from mainstream contemporary guitar bands such as Biffy Clyro, Radiohead, Idlewild and Pearl Jam. However each member, as in most bands, has personal musical influence each side of the spectrum. Flags played their first live show on 31st July 2008 and performed frequently throughout the tail end of 2008. The band recorded the song Squash Heart Attack (available on the bands facebook & myspace sites) at the end of the year as a pre-cursor to their yet to be titled debut Ep. The band re-entered the studio in January of 2009 and recorded 4 more tracks that went towards the bands debut Ep, which can be found on the bands last.fm, myspace and facebook pages.
