Artist Bio
Chris McDermott, an artist native to the Philadelphia suburb region, is known in the music scene as the rock âbandâ EVE OF RELEASE, even though his music is written and produced solely without the help of band members, or even commercial recording studios. Writing and recording music independently may sound like a daunting task to most and is commonly known as being a mistake in the music industry, but Chris has undeniably found a way to capture and express the emotional depth of a very human mind through the beautiful and captivating melodies he records; and he does it by breaking every rule known in the music business.
Traditional multiple member bands are generally more accepted by music fans than solo recording artists because of the more organic sound they usually create in the studio, but their biggest drawback is that they tend to have a very hard time replicating the majestic sound of the true music their songwriter hears in his or her mind, and more often than not the emotional connection between the listener and the songwriter is lost before the first chorus. Chris McDermott has forged a technique that achieves complete independence from a band by holding true to the heart of the music he is creating, delivering an emotional performance that could only be rendered by an artist who has full control over exactly how they envision their music to sound; and he does this in every track he records. The listener can become lost on a journey through the soul of a songwriter who hardly seems to care about how exposed he is by the revealing music and lyrics he pours into his recorder, leaving them scrambling for the rewind button.
Rarely in the relatively short history of home-built studios has a solo artist came this close to creating something as engaging and timeless as some professionally recorded classic albums of the past, and all of this is accomplished in a recording studio located in Croydon, Pennsylvania, that Chris has dubbed FLASH SOUND STUDIOS. With cathedral high ceilings and an isolated control room that has a double pane, laminated glass window overlooking the performance area, FLASH SOUND STUDIOS is hardly your typical, low-budget home studio. While it may not be a million dollar operation, it holds it's own in production quality against the major record label funded studios because it's home to a major label quality engineer.
As any industry professional knows, a truly talented recording engineer/producer can make a relatively good sounding recording on even the cheapest equipment while in the worst environment, and although FLASH SOUND STUDIOS is equipped with a top-of-the-line 24 track, 24-bit digital system by Roland, it's really Chris McDermott's 15 years of recording experience that makes FLASH SOUND STUDIOS one of the best places to cut an album or single in the Philadelphia region. The dedication and enjoyment he has for his craft has made him into the complete natural he is today and to see him in action behind a guitar or a mixing board is like watching an artist dance his brush around a blank canvas, slowly revealing a scene straight out of an imagination that has no limits. And just like all artists, he is always evolving and refining his techniques, constantly striving to please the fans that drive him forward.
As one of the few remaining true rock bands left in the 21st century, EVE OF RELEASE holds the promise of continuing the symphonic passion, soul, and anarchy that rock fans have been longing for since the passing of history's most legendary artists. Chris McDermott proves with every new release that rock is far from dead and breaks new ground to spite the graves of major labels passed.
