They say that fate only takes you so far, and then it is up to you to make it happen. Such is the case for Emillie Dias, a Brazilian-native pop/rock singer and songwriter whose unique story shows that one can achieve anything with hard work, passion and dedication.


Emillie Dias was born in the city of Curitiba, Brazil, in 1986, and grew up with a passion for music and songwriting. In 1996, after seeing an ad on the local newspaper, Emillie’s family entered the Green Card Lottery, a worldwide drawing in which the winning families are given the privilege to legally move to America. They entered merely out of curiosity and knew their chances of winning were minimal. Just a year later, however, they were announced as winners and were given a period of three month to move. The family then decided to leave their lives in Brazil behind and to start fresh in the United States.


Starting a new life in Tampa, Florida, Emillie took every opportunity she could to be around music and expand her musical experiences. She learned to speak, read, and write fluent English in just 3 months (and then went on to learning fluent Spanish). Emillie discovered her passion for rock music after being exposed to American artists such as Aerosmith and Green Day. “I was only about 11 or 12 but, from then on, I knew that’s what I wanted to do,” says Emillie. Today, Emillie also finds influence in artists from the current music scene, such as The Academy Is…, Armor for Sleep, and the Brazilian pop/rock band Jota Quest.


Emillie is now 22 years of age, and her dedication and passion for making music are undeniably showing. With the August 2008 release of her digital EP, Emillie is building a solid national and international fan base and was voted Buzznet.com’s #1 Most Buzzed Artist for two consecutive weeks, jumping ahead of established acts like Panic At The Disco, The Academy Is…, Fall Out Boy and All Time Low.


Emillie’s music has already caught the attention of many of the scene’s most successful artists, such as Anberlin and Amber Pacific. With catchy hooks and honest lyrics, Emillie Dias is well on her way to taking over the music scene by storm.
