In 2006 I released an EP that included 6 songs I had written during a very specific period of my life. It's still crazy to think that to this day, those are the only songs that I've ever released to the public, because over the past 3-4 years I have amassed an abundant collection of songs...Some that I've had the time to work on, and others that still only exist in my head, on sheets of paper in various notebooks hidden in my closet or as :30 second memos on my phone. Its obviously been extremely frustrating to be deprived of an outlet for these songs, but recently I've realized that I have more power over my music than I've ever owned up to...
Thats why I've decided to open up my vault so to speak. Over the coming months I will be releasing demos that no one has ever heard, on a PureVolume account that I've set up solely for this purpose. My hope is not only that I can share these songs with you before I outgrow them, but also that I can put to rest the emotions that made me write these songs in the first place. Not being able to release these songs has stunted my personal growth and I'm at a point in my life where I desperately need to move forward in every way, shape and form.
I would like to believe that over my very brief career as a musician, any attention I've garnered has been due to the fact that I expose myself completely. Due to the nature of how I write and perform its very difficult for me to hide any flaws or imperfections, so from an early age I decided that I would be myself and allow people to take me or leave me as I am. With that said, these demos are just that...They are rough versions of unfinished ideas that I tracked in my bedroom with little to no recording experience or resources at my disposal. They may be incoherent, sloppy and even painful to listen to at times, but they undoubtedly have a style and message all their own.
