With a focus on memorable, often poetic lyrics, indie songwriter Cecil Monk's debut album Far From Your Soul explores those moments in life and love that keep you up at night, wondering who you are, and what it all means. Musically, things range from sparse, emotional ballads to a mix of indie rock and punk that is felt as much as heard. And it always sounds raw and real, as the young man from Texas has little in common with the auto-tuned, beat-quantized, and generally sanitized approach to music one typically hears these days. A multi-instrumentalist who plays every instrument on the album, he has an overall sound that is unique to him, highlighted by an unrefined baritone voice.
