A Grave Calling was founded in 2006 in Junction City, Kansas by drummer Abe Peralta and guitarist Jon Gavin. During a practice session in late 2006, friend Jake Lancaster decided to try out vocals and soon after became an official member as the lead vocalist. The three would begin at first playing at house parties, incorporating improvisation into their live performance often. In 2008, friend and guitarist Brennan Edwards was informed of a cancer benefit show being held at the Junction City Municipal Building. He approached Jon, Abe and Jake and proposed the idea of the four getting together and writing some material to play at the benefit. After writing four songs together Brennan Edwards officially joined the band. A Grave Calling continue to play live shows and write music, striving to progress and push the limits of their creative potential.
