"A melodic trainwreck". That is a phrase that could appropriately sum up the essence behind Time The Destroyer, Guelph's newest progressive-metal outfit that has all the right ingredients to make the group a top contender in the Canadian music scene.
Hailing from Ontario's melting pot for upcoming and outstanding musicians, Time The Destroyer has come to exist as a result of an idea: to bring together homegrown metal musicians and create unique music. All of the band's members were tired of the monotony happening within the metal scene. Everything was so...typical. The mission was to make metal songs without limitations while still being classified within a genre. And within a genre so "typical" the task sounded daunting to say the least. However, once the band's members came together and started to unravel their creativeness, the mission that was set out to do started to take form. Combining members from different bands and genres (Arise and Ruin, Shad, Glasgow Grin, The Bedroom Etiquette, The Manhattan Project, Rockalotapus) the band brought together their individual flavour towards the collective product. The songs were influenced but not replicated, unique but distinct, experimental but tasteful. The band started playing shows and the response was unanimous: satisfied puzzlement. The songs were metal, but people had a hard time classifying the band into one sub-genre. Mission accomplished.
Time The Destroyer are currently finishing up their first demo/EP slated to be released in the summer of 2010.
